The Meaning and Classification of Suit Culture

According to the gender and age of the wearer, suits can be divided into three categories: men's suits, women's suits, and children's suits.
Men's suits
Before the emergence of modern suits, modern Western men wore suits for business occasions, including a long and thick black coat called a frock coat. Until the late 19th century, Americans began to switch to lighter, waist length jackets called sack suits. This has become the standard daytime attire for informal, non working occasions, and even the most simple men will have such a suit to wear when going to church on Sundays. Before World War II, this simple suit was worn along with a vest.
On the other hand, evening sets have also developed into an informal attire. The original tailcoat evolved into a small evening dress. Evening gowns have even replaced tailcoats as the standard attire for attending evening events, while the longer historical tailcoats are only reserved for the most solemn occasions, such as banquets, music concerts, and honorific ceremonies. The formal attire during the day is morning dress. Although modern occasions are generally no longer limited to formalities, depending on the etiquette required for attending the event, the dress code should be indicated on the invitation.
Women's suits
Modern suits worn by women are mostly limited to business occasions. Women often wear formal attire for formal occasions such as banquets.
At the beginning of the 20th century, a suit consisting of a jacket and skirt became the common daytime attire for Western women, suitable for work and daily wear. Women's sets are softer in material and cut more closely to the body than men's sets, highlighting the usually curvaceous posture of women's bodies. Women's suits with pants began to appear in the 1960s, but the process of being accepted as work attire was slower. With the development of the times and the opening up of society, there is also a trend towards shorter skirts in sets. In the 1990s, mini skirts became popular again, and the length of suits and short skirts was also affected, depending on local customs and circumstances.
